Practicum Supervisor (K-12 ESL)

Project Momentum an educator licensure and professional learning initiative housed at the Southeast Service Cooperative (SSC) is seeking a qualified teacher educator to serve as a Practicum Supervisor for Project Momentums ESL K-12 additional licensure program during the 202627 academic year.

This position will support 1520 candidates through the ESL Practicum. Most supervision responsibilities take place between February and July 2027 requiring approximately 810 hours per candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise teacher candidates during their practicum experiences for additional licensure.
• Conduct a minimum of two observations and post-observation debrief meetings per candidate. Observations may be virtual or in-person. Travel may be required for in-person observations.
• Evaluate teaching effectiveness using established lesson planning and observation rubrics.
• Provide constructive coaching to candidates using program and InTASC Standards to improve instructional knowledge skills and dispositions.
• Maintain regular communication with candidates to discuss progress address concerns and support their professional development.
• Act as a liaison between the candidate and the cooperating teacher including leading a minimum of two triad meetings to facilitate communication and ensure alignment on expectations and support needs.
• Maintain accurate records of observations feedback and assessments. Ensure that all documentation aligns with program requirements and is submitted in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with SSC staff to ensure candidates are meeting program requirements.
• Attend required virtual meetings and training sessions including professional development in coaching strategies for adult learners; and training on program requirements and evaluation procedures.
• Maintain appropriate technology (i.e. internet access computer) for the duration of the practicum experience(s). Expenses related to technology will not be reimbursed by SSC.

Qualifications:

• MN License in English as a Second Language (ESL) K-12 with at least three years of experience as a teacher of record - or - E-12 administrator with documented experience in teacher evaluation REQUIRED
• Masters degree in education or related field REQUIRED
• Experience coaching adult learners and providing feedback to educators
• Deep understanding of 2020 WIDA Standards Framework implementation for ELD instruction
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of current teaching methodologies and InTASC Standards
• Proficiency in technology tools and applications related to education
• Ability to pass a background check before in-person school visits

Time Commitment

This position involves supervision of 1520 candidates at approximately 810 hours per candidate including required training. The total time commitment is approximately 120200 hours depending on final candidate enrollment. Practicum schedules vary by candidate need; most hours will take place between February and July with some months heavier than others. Observations take place during school hours.

Compensation

The Practicum Supervisor will be paid $500 per candidate for a total of $7500$10000 based on a caseload of 1520 candidates. Observations may be conducted virtually or in person depending on the supervisors proximity to the candidate. Mileage for required travel will be reimbursed at the federal mileage rate.
