Job Summary
A Registered Nurse providing services on behalf of a center will have at least thefollowing qualifications and experience:
- A valid RN license under Texas Occupations Code Chapter 301 with no disciplinary action
- Valid certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Basic First Aid; and one year of pediatric specialty Experience with emphasis on medically and technologically dependent minors obtained within the previous five years
A Registered Nurse providing services on behalf of a center will be responsible for the following:
- maintaining compliance with the standards of nursing practice and delegation;
- developing a minors plan of care;
- providing nursing interventions that includes parental training information and education to increase a parents confidence and competence in caring for a minor;
- coordinating services with other service providers;
- monitoring the ongoing physical and developmental growth of a minor;
- having knowledge of access to available community resources;
- participating on the IDT and in the IDT meetings regarding a minors plan of care and progress;
- administering medication intravenous infusions parenteral feeding and other specialized treatments; monitoring and documenting the effect of medications therapies and progress in accordance with accepted standards of professional practice;
- communicating findings to a minors prescribing physician and the centers nursing director; and
- supervising the centers direct care staff independently and for three months after completion of the competency evaluation.
