We are seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to support the design development modeling integration and validation of advanced hybrid electric power systems for next-generation military and automotive vehicle platforms. This role focuses on power architecture development electrical power generation and distribution energy storage systems MATLAB/Simulink and Ansys modeling system integration and vehicle-level testing while supporting advanced electrification technologies and defense vehicle programs.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design development integration and validation of advanced vehicle power systems and hybrid electric architectures.
Define power subsystem architectures and support critical power system design decisions for current and future vehicle platforms.
Conduct technology assessments trade studies and feasibility analyses for emerging electrification technologies.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams suppliers and external partners to integrate power-related systems and subsystems into vehicle platforms.
Develop and maintain CAE models of complex hybrid electric systems including:
High-voltage batteries
Integrated Starter Generators (ISG)
Electric motors
DC/DC converters
Power distribution and power management devices
Integrate component models into complete power subsystem simulations to evaluate system performance under varying operating conditions including:
Drive cycles
Environmental conditions
Road loads
System tolerances
Electrical and mechanical loading profiles
Perform component and system sizing analyses to ensure compliance with customer and vehicle performance requirements.
Translate system and feature requirements into validation plans test procedures and operational use cases.
Support subsystem and vehicle-level integration troubleshooting and testing activities in laboratory and vehicle environments.
Develop review and approve technical documentation including:
System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDD)
Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)
CAN Interface Control Documents (ICD)
Engineering development artifacts
Provide technical leadership mentorship and guidance to engineering team members while supporting technology roadmaps and future capability development.
Participate in internal reviews customer demonstrations and technical presentations.
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to define interfaces operational concepts drive cycle profiles performance requirements and system integration strategies.
Participate in peer reviews and support defect identification root cause analysis corrective actions and issue resolution.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies related to:
Hybrid electric vehicle systems
High-voltage battery technologies
Electric propulsion systems
Power electronics
Vehicle electrification architectures
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Electrical Power Systems or a related technical discipline.
10 years of experience in electrical power systems vehicle electrification or related engineering roles.
Experience designing developing integrating testing and troubleshooting vehicle electrical power systems including:
Power generation
Power distribution
Power management
Energy storage systems
Strong knowledge of military or automotive vehicle electrical architectures and associated hardware components.
Experience with hybrid electric vehicle architectures and multi-voltage system integration.
Strong background in electrical system modeling simulation and analysis.
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink Ansys and model-based development environments.
Experience supporting system integration troubleshooting and validation activities in laboratory and vehicle environments.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent development programs while meeting schedule budget and technical objectives.
Ability to support occasional evening and weekend work as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing.
Experience using Vector tools including CANalyzer CANoe and CAPL.
Knowledge of J1939 CAN Bus communications.
Experience designing developing and integrating military ground vehicle systems.
Familiarity with defense industry engineering processes documentation standards and product development lifecycles.
Experience with Git version control Jira issue tracking and Confluence collaboration tools.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter and VisMockup.
