Position Overview:

This position represents the third level within the Power Engineering Technologist classification and reports directly to Operational Leadership. You will provide advanced technical expertise in analyzing complex design alternatives for power distribution projects. Individuals in this role are expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge of customer design workflows procedures and technical practices within the clients areas of addition the position contributes to team development by providing technical guidance mentoring and support to less experienced team members.

Essential Functions:

  • This role requires regular on-site attendance and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

  • Interpret all applicable codes and regulations and independently develop complex overhead and underground distribution designs across multiple geographic areas. Project types may include but are not limited to commercial and residential systems downtown power infrastructure extra facility projects high-profile initiatives highway relocation projects and other work requiring the highest levels of reliability and quality.

  • Develop detailed accurate and cost-effective project and job packagesincluding material lists requisitions site layouts and construction drawingsto ensure maximum safety reliability and quality across diverse and complex project types.

  • Collaborate closely with construction teams clients and customers to resolve design and job-site challenges while creating and managing work requests and clearly communicating schedules feasibility and expectations using current work management tools.

  • Evaluate equipment loading power quality considerations and reliability requirements to deliver safe compliant and technically sound solutions for complex power distribution systems.

  • Perform field assessments to validate system conditions and customer needs while building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships that support company and client objectives.

  • Support the training and development of less experienced team members providing advanced technical guidance while consistently demonstrating and promoting full adherence to safety policies and procedures; perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Expected participation in storm restoration activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (Certain client projects or contractual requirements may require an Associate degree from a two - year college or technical school).

  • 3-5 years of experience in experience in utility power distribution engineering or related craft work.

Other Abilities:

  • Valid drivers license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply)

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This role involves primarily office-based work with regular sitting and frequent use of hands for computer and tool handling and talking and hearing throughout the day. The position also includes occasional standing walking reaching climbing or balancing and stooping or kneeling during field activities. We may require employees to lift up to 10 pounds regularly. The job also requires visual abilities including close and distance vision color distinction peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment:

Your work will involve a mix of office and field work. While most duties are performed in a typical office setting you may occasionally perform work outdoors in various weather conditions and in areas that you or others elevate or deem hazardous.
