Details of Research Project:

Postdoctoral Position in Viral RNA Biology and Host-Virus Interactions

Responsibilities

The Pawlica Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City is seeking a postdoctoral researcher interested in RNA biology molecular virology and host-virus interactions.

Our lab studies how viruses use noncoding RNAs structured RNA elements small RNAs and RNA-binding proteins to redirect host post-transcriptional gene regulation. Current projects focus on viral RNA-mediated control of mRNA stability translation microRNA pathways RNA-binding protein occupancy and antiviral gene expression during coronavirus paramyxovirus and herpesvirus infections.

The successful candidate will investigate the functions of viral noncoding RNAs conserved viral RNA elements and host RNA-binding proteins during infection. Projects may involve herpesviral noncoding RNAs regulatory RNA elements in SARS-CoV-2 and measles virus PUMILIO proteins ILF3/NF90-family proteins microRNA regulation and RNA-protein interactions.
