The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

1. Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

2. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

3. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

5. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

6. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

Position Summary

This position works in conjunction with and under the direct supervision of the UM PCIT Clinical Director

The Pediatric Psychology Postdoctoral Associate provides Parent-Child Interaction Therapy outpatient therapy to children at-risk for disruptive behavior problems provides case coordination and conducts ongoing research related to Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

Duties and Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:

50% of the time involved in direct family outpatient therapy and psychoeducational evaluation services:

  • Participates in outpatient therapy and PCIT cases.
  • Conducts psychoeducational evaluations of children and adolescents
  • Provides consultation to other service providers that the family utilizes.
  • Utilized behavioral assessment to improve treatment adherence
  • Conducts intakes of families
  • Provides referrals to appropriate community resources
  • Other duties as assigned

40% of the time involved in research coordination duties:

  • Monitors research outcomes and works with PCIT Therapists and faculty to maintain efficient participant recruitment strategies data collection and data analysis of hypothesized outcomes.
  • Participates in the writing and managing of extramural research funding
  • Leads journal clubs to enhance the evidence-based practice knowledge of staff.
  • Facilitates the preparation and submission of IRB protocols and manuscripts for publication.

10% of the time involved in administrative duties:

  • Documents all visits
  • Scores and interprets developmental and behavioral assessments under the guidance of the Clinical Director
  • Collects appropriate forms and questionnaires from families needed for program demographics and expected outcomes
