Job Summary

R&D Lab Technician

We are seeking an experienced R&D Lab Technician to support product development efforts through prototype assembly testing fixture development and laboratory operations. This role requires a hands-on technician who can work independently with limited supervision while supporting engineers throughout the development and testing process.

Responsibilities

Build prototype assemblies and R&D test fixtures from engineering specifications and drawings

Execute test procedures and protocols with minimal supervision

Document test results and prepare reports following established procedures

Provide feedback on test methods fixture designs and product improvements

Support engineers with troubleshooting of simple electrical circuits mechanical assemblies software functionality and accessories

Interface with vendors and manufacturing teams regarding assembly processes

Source components parts and laboratory supplies

Inspect components using calipers and other precision measurement equipment

Maintain laboratory organization equipment and work areas

Present test findings and improvement recommendations to project team members

Qualifications

High School Diploma required

Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory testing prototype manufacturing or engineering technician experience

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings

Experience building mechanical and electromechanical assemblies

Proficiency using hand tools power tools and precision measurement equipment

Ability to follow semi-complex test procedures and accurately document results

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide status updates

Comfortable working independently with limited supervision

Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

Preferred Experience

Product development or R&D laboratory environment

Prototype assembly and testing

Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting

Manufacturing or engineering support experience

Experience creating basic test procedures and reports
