Position Description


Advanced Energy United(United)is seeking a full-time Policy Principal to join theTexas Advanced Energy Business Alliance(TAEBA)team and lead the organizations engagement at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). ThisAustin-based role willbe responsible formanaging TAEBAs day-to-day ERCOT strategy stakeholder engagement written comments member coordination and relationship-building with ERCOT staff leadership market participants and other key stakeholders.


The Policy Principal will serve as TAEBAs lead staff person in the ERCOT stakeholder process tracking market rule changes and policy developmentsidentifyingopportunities and risks for advanced energy technologies and developing high-quality regulatory comments presentations memos and other advocacy materials. The role will require close coordination with TAEBA member companies and United colleagues to ensure that TAEBAs ERCOT engagement is strategic technically credibletimely and aligned with organizational priorities.


This position is ideal for a motivated self-starter with experience in energy policy electricity markets regulatory advocacy or related technical analysis. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with complex market rules and technical materials translating them into clear recommendations andrepresentingTAEBA in high-stakes stakeholder settings. The role will require regular participation in ERCOT meetings and related Texas energy policy discussions as well as the ability to build trusted relationships with ERCOT staff leadership member companies regulators and market participants.



Responsibilities

  • Lead TAEBAs engagement at ERCOT including monitoring andparticipatingin relevant stakeholder committees working groups task forces workshops and other ERCOT forums.
  • Draft coordinate and file TAEBAs ERCOT comments position statements presentations letters memos and other written materials related to market rules protocols guides procedures and stakeholder initiatives.
  • Develop and execute ERCOT-focused policy and advocacy strategies that support advanced energy technologies competitive markets grid reliability consumer savings and expanded opportunities for TAEBA member companies.
  • Build andmaintainstrong working relationships with ERCOT staff and leadership market participants TAEBA members regulators policymakers coalition partners and other key stakeholders in the Texas electricity market.
  • Track analyze and communicate ERCOT policy and market developments that may affect advanced energy technologies including distributed energy resources virtual power plants demand response energy storage transmission interconnection resource adequacy ancillary services and market design.
  • Coordinate closely with TAEBA members toidentifypriorities gather technical input resolve member feedback and ensure that TAEBAs positions reflect the needs andexpertiseof its business coalition.
  • Brief TAEBA and United colleagues on ERCOT developments risks opportunities and strategic recommendations; prepare internal summaries and member-facing updates as needed.

  • Work with Uniteds communications team toidentifyopportunities to elevate TAEBAs ERCOT priorities through earned media op-eds public statements events and other communications strategies.
  • Support TAEBAs broader Texas policy work as needed particularly where ERCOT issues intersect with PUCT proceedings legislative implementation market reforms transmission planning reliability and distributed energy resource policy.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience;Masters Degreeis a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience with at least some of that experience in policy analysis policy advocacy and/or market analysis; some experience with FERC or competitive wholesale electricity markets strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the advanced energy industry or clean energy advocacy community is a plus.
  • Independent self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit; candidates must bevery comfortableworking with colleagues in a remote environment creating new projects building their own calendar anddelivering on high expectations.
  • Must be comfortable working with and learning about complex economic and technical subjects andhave the ability todistill them into easy-to-digest takeaways.
  • Strong interpersonal skillsrequired; candidates must be able to successfully develop andmaintainproductive relationships with members industry stakeholders policymakers and other key contacts.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and writtenrequiredinclusive of public speaking.
  • Intellectual curiosity inquisitive nature quantitative and analytical skills and excellent listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in advancing a policy agenda and/or working with business leaders is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 30%).
