The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation treatment habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions jail-based evaluations supervised group home and residential programs forensic evaluation care custody and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric services are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana

ELMHS is looking for a motivated detail-oriented and positive individual to join our team as a Police Officer!The selected candidate will serve as acampus lawenforcement first responder ensuringthe safety andsecurity of hospitalgrounds by respondingto emergencies conductingpatrols investigatingincidents enforcing trafficand parking regulations and preparing detailedincident and dailyactivity reports.

No experience or training is required.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.

Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties:

In this role you will:

• Serve as a first responder who is responsible for law enforcement and the safety on campus.

• Provide emergency services by responding to assist calls and investigating accidents/incidents that occur on ELMHS Grounds.

• Patrol hospital grounds to detect unusual activity with also writing incident reports.

• Prepare daily reports on all routine work such as hourly rounds building checks sally ports or gate entrances; confers with Police Sergeant as necessary.

• Control and direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic by erecting moving and removing barricades temporary signs and ribbons for parking and traffic control and issues traffic citations and parking violations

• Perform parking and traffic surveys respond to various emergencies and problems that impact traffic control and provide explanation of complex and unique traffic and parking regulations.
