WDF Inc. a Tutor Perini Company is seeking a Plumbing Field Engineer to join our Mt Vernon NY and NY Metro area project sites.

Position Summary

The Plumbing Field Engineer supports the planning coordination and execution of all plumbing work on construction projects. Working under the general contractor this role ensures that plumbing systems are installed per design specifications project schedules safety standards and applicable codes. The position acts as a liaison between field operations subcontractors design teams and project management to ensure quality and efficiency in MEP delivery.

Job Description:

Project Coordination & Technical Support

  • Review plumbing drawings specifications and submittals for accuracy and constructability.

  • Coordinate with plumbing subcontractors architects engineers and other trades to resolve design or field issues.

  • Assist with layout installation planning and field verification of plumbing systems.

  • Support the implementation of BIM coordination and clash detection for MEP systems.

Field Management

  • Monitor plumbing installation activities to ensure compliance with plans codes and safety regulations.

  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks on domestic water piping sanitary and storm drainage plumbing fixtures and equipment installations.

  • Maintain daily logs track progress and assist in preparing field reports and punch lists.

  • Verify equipment deliveries storage and handling to ensure manufacturer requirements are met.

Scheduling & Cost Control

  • Assist in developing and maintaining MEP project schedules.

  • Track progress of plumbing work against schedule milestones.

  • Support cost tracking change order documentation and subcontractor billing verification.

Testing Commissioning & Closeout

  • Coordinate plumbing pressure testing flushing disinfection and inspection activities.

  • Support commissioning documentation start-up procedures and turnover packages.

  • Ensure as-built drawings O&M manuals and warranties are properly collected and submitted.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce site safety policies and promote a safe work environment.

  • Ensure all plumbing work meets local plumbing and building codes water-efficiency standards and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Construction Management or related field preferred. High School Diploma required.

  • Two (2) years of experience in plumbing or MEP construction including field or project engineering.

  • Experience working with a general contractor or large mechanical subcontractor strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water sanitary and storm drainage gas fixtures and equipment.

  • Familiarity with construction documents specifications and submittal processes.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit Bluebeam and MS Project or Primavera P6.

  • Knowledge of plumbing codes including IPC local plumbing codes and applicable NYC requirements and commissioning practices.

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation habits.
