Job Summary

Title:Plumber

Schedule:Monday-Friday/261 days per year

Pay: $22-$26/hour

Reports to:Buildings and Grounds Coordinator/Director of Support Services

Purpose and Objectives of the Position: The Plumber coordinates and directs the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. They will also assist the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Department in the maintenance needs of the district. To accomplish these tasks the Plumber must work closely with the Maintenance Coordinator district staff and administration.

Qualifications

  • Completion of standard high school or trade school course or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing and special systems.
  • Commercial Plumbing Experience.
  • Valid Kansas drivers license.
  • Knowledge of standard practices tools and terminology of plumbing and a working knowledge of the trade.
  • Knowledge of the safety hazards of the work.
  • Skill in the use of tools.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Dependability self-motivation and good judgment.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as are determined to be appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Maintain suitable supplies tools and equipment.
  • Ensure that adequate safety precautions are followed at all times.
  • Keep abreast of new information innovative ideas and techniques.
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
  • Assist the maintenance department in maintaining the districts buildings and grounds and other duties assigned by the maintenance coordinator.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move lift carry pull or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Requires stooping kneeling crawling bending turning and reaching.
  • Requires climbing and balancing.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Must be able to work in and around dust fumes and odors.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Coordinate and direct the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems and other maintenance tasks as required.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret building blueprints.
  • Must verify good health by passing a physical examination that includes TB and drug test as required.
  • Comply with all district policies rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
