PLTW Engineering Teacher

SALARY:
Commensurate with certification/licensure and experience based on theWicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers.

HOURS:
Full time 10-month position (190 contract days).
Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit.
FLSA: Exempt

• Must hold or be eligible for a Marylandprofessional certificate/license with the proper endorsement.
• Three to five years of related work experience in the Engineering Field or as a Technology Mathematics Robotics or Engineering teacher preferred.
• Complete PLTW Training Institute - 80 hrs/Course at a PLTW affiliate.
• Teaching experience preferred (student teaching acceptable)
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using the English language when deemed necessary.
• Exemplary organizational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students parents and administrators.

• Prepares students to build knowledge and skills in engineering but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem solving critical and creative thinking communication collaboration and perseverence.
• Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students needs including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
• Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the schools standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
