PLANT & YARD WORKER

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma GED or equivalent; must be 18 years and older to work in the Heavy industry
• Must posses a valid Hawaii State Drivers License and be able to drive an automobile or pick-up truck
• Must be able to work NIGHT SHIFT overtime and on weekends as required
• Requires Saturday work
• Must be mechanically inclined
• 1 year of previous experience
• Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer loader and other manual equipment necessary to maintain a safe and clean work environment around crushing maintenance and batch plant equipment
• May assist mechanics and other personnel with minor repairs as required
• Responsible for basic crusher/conveyor maintenance and servicing
• Requires changing conveyor belting idlers rollers skirt board screens and all other wear parts requiring frequent repair or replacement
• Checks mechanical condition of equipment as required
• Assists mechanics on emergency and minor repairs
• Reports unsafe conditions and mechanical defects on equipment
• Performs pre- and post- operational checks such as oil water and fuel levels checks all lights and braking system and tires
• Responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of equipment and makes minor repairs when necessary
• Performs repair and replacement maintenance on all wear parts
• Performs such similar comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
• Must always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions process and behaviors

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Works in varying environments from air-conditioned offices to hot dusty muddy field conditions
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and withstand heights
• Must be able to lift and carry materials weighting up to 60 pounds
