WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Slate is looking for a hands-on Plant Vehicle Engineering Technician Electrical Systems & Harness Support to support launch readiness production quality and issue resolution for low-voltage systems high-voltage electrical interfaces and vehicle harness applications in the manufacturing plant.

This role supports Plant Vehicle Engineering by providing hands-on troubleshooting inspection repair validation and build support for vehicle electrical systems connectors terminals harness routing grounds power distribution modules and related electrical interfaces.

The position focuses on plant execution vehicle triage and physical electrical issue resolution. It does not own electrical design release but it plays a critical role in identifying build routing connector terminal continuity isolation workmanship and installation issues that may impact vehicle quality function safety or launch readiness.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

Electrical Systems & Harness Support

  • Support launch and ongoing production of low-voltage systems high-voltage interfaces and vehicle harness applications in a manufacturing plant environment.

  • Troubleshoot harness routing connector engagement pin fit terminal damage continuity shorts opens grounds chafing water intrusion and electrical interface concerns.

  • Inspect installation quality including retention clipping branch routing bend radius strain relief connector seating sealing shielding and protection from damage during assembly.

  • Support high-voltage harness and component interface checks related to routing connector seating HVIL continuity isolation concerns cable damage retention shielding labeling and installation quality where authorized and trained.

Vehicle Triage & Repair Validation

  • Support vehicle-level electrical triage for no-start no-communication DTCs lighting sensors switches modules charging power distribution low-voltage functionality and high-voltage system interface concerns.

  • Use diagnostic tools multimeter scan tools breakout leads schematics connector views pinout information insulation/isolation test equipment where authorized and plant test results to support issue investigation.

  • Document findings clearly including photos fault details suspected root cause repair actions connector or harness condition and validation results.

  • Support containment quality alerts repair instructions breakpoint confirmation teardown activities and corrective action validation.

Launch & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with Plant Vehicle Engineering Electrical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Quality Production Suppliers Service and Vehicle Integration to resolve plant electrical issues.

  • Support prototype pilot and production ramp builds by identifying recurring harness connector low-voltage and high-voltage installation defects early.

  • Provide feedback into harness routing connector access serviceability work instructions inspection standards repair procedures and plant diagnostic processes.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

Education and Experience

  • 3 years of automotive electrical vehicle diagnostics harness assembly manufacturing service launch or related hands-on technical experience.

  • Associate degree technical certification automotive electrical training EV high-voltage training or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

  • Experience reading wiring diagrams schematics connector views pinouts electrical repair procedures diagnostic information and quality standards.

  • High-voltage safety training EV technician certification or ability to complete company-required high-voltage qualification required.

Skills

  • Strong hands-on understanding of vehicle electrical systems including low-voltage circuits harness routing connectors terminals grounds fuses relays sensors switches modules and power distribution.

  • Working knowledge of high-voltage vehicle systems including HV harness routing HV connectors HVIL isolation concepts shielding cable protection and safe work practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot shorts opens high resistance terminal pushout pin fit connector damage routing concerns intermittent electrical faults HVIL concerns and harness installation issues.

  • Experience using DVOMs scan tools diagnostic software breakout tools harness repair tools terminal tools and basic electrical test equipment.

  • Ability to follow high-voltage safety procedures escalation requirements lockout/tagout expectations and company-authorized work practices.

  • Ability to inspect and document build quality concerns clearly and communicate with engineers technicians production teams quality teams and suppliers.

  • Ability to work on the plant floor more than 75% of the time; flexibility to support launch builds urgent production issues teardown activities and hands-on repair validation.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10-20%. Must be willing to relocate to Warsaw Indiana. Relocation assistance will be provided.

PAY RANGE:

The compensation for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Hourly)

29.05 - 36.32 - 43.58 USD Hourly
