SUMMARY
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the safe reliable and efficient day-to-day operation of the Companys natural gas processing facilities. This position provides direct operational oversight of Plant Operators coordinates staffing and work schedules monitors daily plant activities and ensures changes in plant conditions equipment status maintenance activities and operating priorities are effectively communicated.
The Plant Supervisor serves as a key link between Plant Operators and the Director of Plant Operations and works closely with Maintenance Engineering Automation Environmental Health & Safety PSM and other supporting departments to coordinate plant activities and maintain operational reliability.
This position requires strong knowledge of natural gas processing operations plant equipment operating procedures and safe work practices. The Plant Supervisor provides leadership and direction to Plant Operators while escalating complex technical or operational matters to the Director of Plant Operations and appropriate technical resources.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Plant Operations & Daily Oversight
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and operational direction to Plant Operators.
  • Monitor daily plant operations to ensure facilities are operated safely reliably and efficiently.
  • Review plant operating conditions equipment status alarms production information and other operational data to identify issues requiring attention.
  • Stay informed of daily changes occurring within the plant and ensure relevant information is communicated to Plant Operators leadership and supporting departments.
  • Coordinate shift priorities and daily operating activities based on plant conditions and business needs.
  • Ensure proper communication between shifts regarding equipment status maintenance activities operational changes abnormal conditions and outstanding work.
  • Assist Plant Operators with troubleshooting operational issues and determining appropriate next steps.
  • Escalate significant operational equipment safety or reliability concerns to the Director of Plant Operations and appropriate supporting departments.
  • Support safe plant startups shutdowns equipment transitions and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability efficiency and overall operations.
Scheduling & Staffing
  • Develop coordinate and maintain Plant Operator work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and continuous operational coverage.
  • Coordinate schedule changes related to PTO call-outs training overtime vacations and other staffing needs.
  • Arrange appropriate shift coverage when staffing changes or operational needs arise.
  • Communicate schedules and schedule changes to Plant Operators in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate staffing requirements for planned maintenance projects startups shutdowns turnarounds and other plant activities.
  • Monitor staffing levels and communicate current or anticipated coverage needs to the Director of Plant Operations.
  • Coordinate with supporting departments to ensure appropriate personnel and resources are available for scheduled plant activities.
Employee Supervision & Development
  • Provide daily leadership direction and support to Plant Operators.
  • Set expectations for safe work practices operational responsibilities communication documentation and job performance.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and feedback as appropriate.
  • Support the onboarding and development of new Plant Operators.
  • Reinforce operating procedures safety requirements and Company expectations.
  • Assist with identifying training and development needs for Plant Operations personnel.
  • Work with the Director of Plant Operations and Plant Operations Specialist to support operator training and continued development.
  • Participate in performance discussions and employee evaluations as requested by the Director of Plant Operations.
  • Promote accountability teamwork communication and a strong safety culture within Plant Operations.
Maintenance & Operational Coordination
  • Coordinate closely with Maintenance regarding equipment availability preventative maintenance repairs and equipment outages.
  • Assist with planning operational activities around scheduled maintenance and project work.
  • Communicate equipment issues and operational priorities to Maintenance and appropriate supporting teams.
  • Coordinate equipment shutdowns isolations startups and return-to-service activities with appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor outstanding operational and maintenance items and follow up to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Support planning and coordination for plant turnarounds and major maintenance activities.
  • Cross-Functional Support
  • Work closely with Engineering Maintenance Automation Environmental Health & Safety PSM Measurement and other departments as needed.
  • Communicate plant conditions operating changes equipment concerns and upcoming activities that may impact supporting departments.
  • Participate in operational meetings project discussions safety meetings and planning activities.
  • Support Engineering and technical teams with plant information and operational input as needed.
  • Assist with implementation of operational changes resulting from engineering projects equipment modifications or process improvements.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for new or modified plant equipment and systems.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and enforce Company safety policies operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Plant Operators follow established procedures and safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings incident reviews JSAs operational reviews and other safety-related activities.
  • Identify and communicate unsafe conditions operational risks and equipment concerns.
  • Support PSM requirements and other applicable regulatory and Company compliance programs.
  • Assist with emergency response activities and ensure Plant Operations personnel understand their responsibilities during abnormal or emergency conditions.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation and ensure required records are completed appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree certification or additional education in Process Technology Industrial Operations Mechanical Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in natural gas processing midstream operations or a similar industrial operating environment preferred.
  • Previous experience operating or supporting cryogenic natural gas processing facilities is strongly preferred.
  • Previous lead supervisory or operational leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of natural gas processing equipment systems and operating procedures.
  • Experience coordinating employee schedules shift coverage and daily operational activities preferred.
  • Experience working with Maintenance Engineering Automation Safety and other technical support groups preferred.

  • Strong understanding of natural gas processing and plant operations.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic processing equipment and associated plant systems.
  • Ability to monitor plant operating conditions and recognize abnormal conditions or equipment concerns.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and provide direction to Plant Operators.
  • Strong scheduling planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate operational changes clearly across shifts and departments.
  • Ability to read and understand operating procedures P&IDs equipment documentation and technical information.
  • Ability to work effectively with Operations Maintenance Engineering Automation Environmental Health & Safety and other departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate operational documentation.
  • Ability to make sound decisions during changing or abnormal operating conditions.
  • Ability to lead by example and promote a strong culture of safety accountability and teamwork.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business software used for scheduling communication reporting and operational documentation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit stand walk climb stairs and ladders and work around operating equipment.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely access various areas of natural gas processing facilities.
  • Ability to respond to operational needs outside normal working hours when required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily based at a natural gas processing facility with regular exposure to operating equipment and industrial environments.
  • Work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions noise moving equipment and other conditions associated with natural gas processing facilities.
  • Must comply with all Company safety policies and site-specific requirements.
  • May require occasional after-hours weekends holidays or emergency support based on operational needs.
  • Must be available to support plant operations and staffing needs as required.
