Privacy Policy and Privacy Notice for California Residents located at Technician Job Details:Snell & Wilmer one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Western United States is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Planner Technician to join our Urban Planning group in our Phoenix office.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a career in urban planning while working alongside experienced planners and attorneys on a wide variety of development and entitlement projects. The Planner Technician will support planning initiatives through research data analysis project coordination and preparation of planning documents while collaborating with municipalities clients and development professionals in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
The hours for this position are fromMonday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the office.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform a variety of professional level work involving the gathering analysis and reporting of data for use in current and long-range planning; and to provide information and assistance on planning related matters to the department
- Responsible for providing planning support by assisting with parts of planning projects
- Receive and review zoning and variance requests construction and planning documents traffic plans development proposals and applications for compliance with appropriate regulations and policies
- Research analyze and interpret social environmental economic population and land use data and trends; prepare written reports on various planning matters and elements of the general plan
- Support the Urban Planners in the application process on all planning projects
- Support business development activities and maintenance of positive client relationships
- Compile information make recommendations and prepare planning reports on special studies pertaining to land use capital projects and community development
- Research verify update and draft ordinances for review; collect record and summarize statistical and demographic information
- Research and prepare reports as needed
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Urban Planning Architecture Landscape Architecture Geography or closely related field orEducation and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree
- One (1) to three (3) years of professional planning experience preferably in a professional planning environment
- Knowledge of the common principles practices and methods used in Urban Planning
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials and other development professionals
- Must have valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
