The Planer Setter is responsible for the safe reliable and efficient setup operation adjustment and maintenance of the planer machine. This position ensures lumber is surfaced to specification maintains optimal planer performance minimizes downtime with continuous improvement in safety quality recovery and productivity.

- Verify planer setup meets production schedules and grade requirements
- Optimize machine settings for lumber size species and quality requirements
- Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maximize run rate and quality
- Maintain tooling knives and cutter heads
- Conduct daily planer inspections
- Conduct all preventative maintenance (PM) activities on the planer
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Planer mill experience
- Ability to read measuring devices and dimensional specifications
- Knowledge of lumber manufacturing processes
- Experience with planer setup troubleshooting and tooling
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude
