Job Profile Summary

ONEOK is seeking a Pipeline Control Simulation Coordinator who will be responsible for managing and supporting the Pipeline Control Center simulator environment used to prepare pipeline controllers for required training abnormal operating conditions emergency response scenarios and other real-world pipeline control situations. This role will support Pipeline Control training and simulation needs across ONEOKs NGL console groups by coordinating simulator scheduling maintaining scenario content supporting system improvements and helping ensure training scenarios reflect day-to-day controller experiences.

The Pipeline Control Simulation Coordinator will collaborate closely with Pipeline Control Pipeline Modeling SCADA IT engineers lead controllers and other internal stakeholders to design test document and continuously improve simulation modules before they are placed into production. This position requires strong pipeline operations knowledge Microsoft 365 proficiency technical documentation skills independent problem-solving and the ability to influence and coordinate across business units with minimal day-to-day oversight. Experience in pipeline control operations control board operations plant operations SCADA simulation tools reporting or Power BI may be especially valuable for candidates who understand pipeline operations and enjoy thinking creatively to improve training and system effectiveness.

This salaried position is based at ONEOK Plaza in Tulsa Oklahoma and follows a hybrid MondayFriday work schedule.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Pipeline Control Center (PCC) simulator environment including scheduling and oversight of patching maintenance software upgrades and resolution of hardware and/or equipment issues; develop communication plan to communicate impacts to stakeholders

  • Responsible for developing a scheduling process for the simulator environment that will enable scheduling of individual training sessions across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Create maintain and document different training scenarios with different parameters around each unique setup for a scenario. Help with keeping track of all the different possibilities

  • Develop a strategic roadmap and long-term plan for the PCC simulator environment that includes resource requirements additional functionality and system requirements that promote continuous improvement of the environment. Create and maintain the program collaboratively with major stakeholders with a focus on future growth and expansion capabilities

  • Ensure simulation capabilities remain consistent with existing Operational procedures; ensure new programming logic and/or assets can be simulated through the development of new scenarios

  • Collaborate with groups to utilize and integrate tools that will assist in more accurately representing the day to day experiences of a Pipeline Controller (Max Log PI)

  • Able to identify and assist in SCADA and operational differences understanding differences in approach to set points between groups and pipeline systems

  • Create and maintain up to date user training documentation

  • Develop reporting to demonstrate training progress scenario content pass rates or other ad hoc requests as needed

  • Creating management reports on training scenarios status reporting on pass rate

Education

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors level courses closely related to computer sciences engineering and/or business preferred but the following job-related experience is required:

Work Experience

  • Experience with and knowledge of natural gas and/or natural gas liquid pipeline operations related to hydraulics in both steady-state and transient modes

  • Experience with PCC functions computer programs and equipment applicable to PCC operations

  • Experience monitoring pressures volumes and controls to maintain adequate NGP and NGL flow

  • Working knowledge and/or experience with modeling and simulation software to calculate and analyze hydraulic conditions on a system-wide network basis; knowledge of various vendor software and their capabilities

  • Experience interacting advising training and communicating effectively

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including computers

  • Experience and/or training related to:

    • Basic programming/computer applications and hardware/SCADA systems

    • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

  • Experience reading and interpreting rules regulations logs reports manuals contracts procedures and schematic diagrams

  • Experience compiling and preparing reports logs and correspondence

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: field logic including the ability to understand hydraulics cause/effect pump behavior and general pipeline operations

  • Knowledge of: pumps and drivers along with general operating principles and modeling techniques/data for these devices in simulation software

  • Skills in: computer with all MS Office applications - including data queries and analysis pivot tables etc.; the ability to interact with and contribute to Control Room Management (CRM) and other Key Management systems

  • Ability to: translate operating scenarios and response procedures into operational and training documentation/manuals

  • Ability to: apply basic mathematics including use of decimals and percentages

  • Ability to: understand process flow diagrams (PFD) and schematics to write technical reports and guidelines and to interact with and contribute to enterprise systems

  • Ability to: verbalize information or instructions utilizing telephones and two-way radios

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified as an Operational Qualification (OQ) within 1 Year

  • Training Evaluator within 1 Year
