Overview

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring a Physical Therapist(PRN) to be a part of our fast-paced and dedicated innovative team with a highly experienced new Director of Rehab.

Schedule: Saturdays as needed & occasional week days

Our rehabilitation hospital has a large therapy gym with state-of-the-art equipment and an activities of daily living area which includes a kitchen and laundry area. Patients receive focused care and comprehensive support they need throughout their journey to improved health.

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is located within TrustPoint Hospital offering the only acute hospital-based inpatient physical rehabilitation in Rutherford County.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Treat injured or ill patients to improve movement and manage pain by providing services of rehabilitation treatment and prevention.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assess plan organize and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility relieve pain increase strength and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
  • Diagnose patient functions and movements by observing them stand or walk and by listening to their concerns among other methods and develop individualized plans of care for patient outlining the patient goals and the expected outcomes of the plans.
  • Use exercises stretching maneuvers hands-on therapy and equipment to ease patient pain help increase mobility prevent further pain or injury and facilitate health and wellness.
  • Evaluate and record patient progress modifying a plan of care and trying new treatments as needed.
  • Educate patient and their family about what to expect from the recovery process and how best to cope with challenges throughout the process. Provide quality personalized interventions.
  • Motivate patients during treatment in order to help them function optimally.
  • Complete discharge planning including designing home follow up programs when appropriate.
  • May conduct individualized or group therapy sessions such as Hydrotherapy or Therapeutic Movement Group sessions.
  • Demonstrate a positive empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree in Physical Therapy or Doctor of Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university as required by state and acceptable for licensure.
  • One or more years experience working with population of the facility preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current active professional license or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
