Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist provides compassionate therapy and rehabilitation services to help patients regain independence improve mobility and support safe effective recovery. This role includes evaluating patient needs developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and using appropriate exercises procedures and therapeutic techniques.
This is a part-time PRN position supporting coverage when our full-time Physical Therapist is unavailable. Hours are typically 23 hours per day in the afternoon with flexibility based on availability. We are especially seeking someone available on Mondays and/or Fridays though this will not be a recurring every-Monday-and-Friday schedule.
- Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluation and treatment according to American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards of practice and the State Practice Act.
- Performs physical therapy in person.
- Develop and implement a patient-centered plan of care based on initial and ongoing evaluations while adjusting the patients schedule and plan according to their progress.
- Implement a plan of treatment on a consistent schedule and adjust this schedule and plan according to patient progress.
- Document patient progress according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.
- Provide effective communication and education to the patient and their authorized caregivers/loved ones.
- Apprise the interprofessional team of patients progress as appropriate.
- Develop a plan for patients following the completion of their Plan of Treatment with appropriate recommendations for a home exercise program and self-managed plan of care
- Maintain professional and technical competency.
- Assist other team members as needed to provide care and create a clean safe environment for rehabilitation and physical therapy.
- Doctorate (preferred) Masters or BS degree in Physical Therapy program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- 2-5 years of experience providing physical therapy.
- Current Texas Physical Therapy Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrates contemporary PT practice with a focus on orthopedic physical therapy delivering care primarily with manual therapy and exercise along with other active movement-based treatments supported by passive modalities as needed.
- Proven record of matching patient needs to treatment plans and proven record of implementing these plans safely and effectively.
- Experience using virtual tools to design track and deliver exercise programs.
- Experience designing developing and managing musculoskeletal programs and patient flow preferred.
- Experience supervising technicians and physical therapy assistants.
- Knowledge of responsible use of facility equipment best practices for equipment use and preventative maintenance procedures.
- Experience with recommending assistive equipment to patients and outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
- Experience with a wide range of patient age groups and injuries.
- A strong sense of empathy a compassionate outlook on Physical Therapy and the ability to motivate patients into pushing their limits in a responsible safe way.
