Job Summary/Description:

First Alert 7 / KOSA the top-rated long-time news leader in Odessa-Midland TX is looking for a Photographer/Videographer to join our news team. Youll be responsible for shooting and editing stories for broadcast digital and social media platforms. You will also be a trainer for our multimedia journalists (MMJs). This is a great opportunity to use your skills to help grow and develop the technical skills of a winning news team. Salary is based on experience.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Acquiring video/audio in the field for broadcast and digital platforms including the stations website news/weather apps streaming channels and social media channels.
- Completing daily news assignments on deadline working solo and/or working with fellow journalists.
- Generating story ideas including stories that can be told with or without additional narration.
- Responding to breaking news.
- Clearly communicating with newsroom staff using station-designated communication tools including email (presently Microsoft Outlook) and the stations centralized communications tool (presently Microsoft Teams).
- Assisting in maintaining camera equipment and news vehicles.
- Working flexible shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Demonstrated experience shooting and editing video using current technology cameras and current non-linear editing software.
- Demonstrated visual storytelling experience. (Can include traditional broadcast and/or digital and/or social media examples.)
- Current drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge and experience with standard workplace software including Microsoft applications for email and word processing; previous experience with newsroom systems is preferred.
- Preferred: Bachelors degree in Journalism Mass Communication or a related field.
- Preferred: Previous journalism experience including current knowledge of major local regional national and international stories.
- Preferred: Previous experience with live broadcast or streaming programs.
