Job Summary

The Department of Pathology is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to perform phlebotomy/specimen collection and a variety of laboratory tasks related to phlebotomy: labeling specimens telephone inquiries and distribution of phlebotomy supplies. This position is 100% time Monday Friday from 0900-1730.

Duties to include:

Performs phlebotomy draws.

Performs computer data entry and other clerical tasks as required.

Orders receives and distributes supplies.

Responds to basic phlebotomy inquiries and otherwise represents assigned and related work areas.

The Department of Pathology is part of UI Health Care a comprehensive health sciences center that serves Iowa and the region as well as patients referred from the United States and overseas. High school graduation or equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications:

Completion of an on-the-job phlebotomy training program or other phlebotomy training program.

Minimum 6 months previous experience working in a healthcare setting is desirable.

Basic computer skills are desirable.

Previous experience with Personal Protective Equipment is desirable.

Previous patient contact experience is desirable.

Previous public contact/customer service experience is desirable.
