Job Summary

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) a nonprofit biomedical research organization is looking for summer interns to join its Advancement Operations team. This is a hybrid opportunity based in New York City. Learn from experienced prospect research and advancement services professionals about how to conduct prospect research and perform wealth analysis to expand fundraising capacity. Gain an understanding of the sophisticated correlation between data management and analytics and strategic decision-making. About Your JAX Internship Experience

Join peers selected from educational institutions across the country for a summer of professional growth and career exploration. As a JAX Intern you will receive a dedicated mentor in your department and connect with your fellow interns through JAX-sponsored activities.

Internship Duration:July through November 2026

The intern hired into this role will work a hybrid schedule. Preferably 1 day per week onsite at the NYSCF location in NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Advancement Operations team with priority data management and enhancement projects after the recent merger of the two databases into one unified platform.
  • Utilize prospect research resources to assist in event research and new prospect identification processes; aid in data entry stemming from research exercises
  • Provide program support in the areas of donor relations and engagement events prospect research and data and gift management leading up to the JAX-NYSCF Gala in November

Expected Outcomes

  • Understanding the field of Advancement Services and Prospect Research in the larger context of a comprehensive Stewardship program.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports from the Advancement database systems to evaluate program success and inform decision making.
  • Experience to be a compelling candidate for a future full-time advancement operations or research position at JAX or other organization.

Desired Qualifications

JAX encourages application from a diverse mix of educational experiences and academic majors. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate at an accredited institution.
  • Comfort working with online resources and learning new applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Excel.
  • Detail-orientated dedicated to accuracy and a tolerance for repetitive work.
  • Experience working effectively independently to contribute to team success.
  • Self-motivated naturally curious and enthusiastic to learn.
  • A high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information is expected.

Hourly Rate: $19-$22/hour
