The newly added 22000-square-foot facility in Niles Michigan will have 43 exam rooms and will house both Southwestern Medical Primary Care Niles and Spectrum Health Lakeland Ear Nose and Throat providers. The $7.8 million project is expected to be completed and open to patients March 2023. This facility is a continued investment in our Niles community and the health of those we serve. It houses a range of coordinated health services from diagnostics to primary and specialty care all in one place allowing us to deliver care to a patients whole family right in their community.

of Work

Pharmacy Technicians work under the direction of a pharmacist to provide technical assistance processing and preparing medications and supplies. Pharmacy Technicians work with multiple medication automation systems and delivers medications and supplies to patient care areas as well as triages phone calls and messages from multidisciplinary team members. Pharmacy Techs must be able to work in complex pharmacy areas (satellites sterile product compounding controlled substance handling inventory management).
  • Prepares supplies / medication including complex sterile formulations under the direction of a pharmacist. May prepare hazardous or biologic products when properly trained and competencies are passed.
  • Prepares and packages bulk medications into unit of use packaging.
  • Handles controlled substances for pharmacy and patient care areas under direct supervision of a pharmacist per federal and state law.
  • Delivers pharmacy prepared medications controlled substances and supplies to various nursing stations/patient care areas.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.

Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Associates Degree
  • Hospital experience Preferred
  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATEMI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATEMI State of Michigan Upon Hire required And
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATEMI State of Michigan 90 Days required
  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Excludes - LIC- Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required
  • Ideal candidate will possess Full Pharmacy Technician License and National Certification such as PTCB or ExCPT
  • Inpatient Pharmacy IV experience or Compounding experience would be a plus
