Pharmacy Technician – Outpatient PTO26-06089

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Outpatient (Managed Care / Prior Authorization)

Location: Portland OR

Shift Details: Day Shift 5x8 Hours 08:00 AM 05:00 PM
Contract Duration: 26 Weeks
On-call: 23 weekends per year
Orientation: 40 Hours (Non-Billable Reduced Orientation Job)

• Oregon Pharmacy Technician License required
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (mandatory)
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience OR Bachelors degree
• Experience in managed care / prior authorization preferred
• Knowledge of ICD-10 CPT coding and medical terminology
• Strong communication analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle high-volume workload independently
• Knowledge of pharmacy laws insurance regulations and HIPAA

• Process pharmacy prior authorizations based on clinical guidelines
• Review and validate pharmacy claims eligibility and benefit data
• Handle inbound calls and route requests to clinical teams as needed
• Perform data entry for authorizations referrals and medication records
• Apply ICD-10 and CPT coding for case tracking and documentation
• Communicate with providers pharmacies and members regarding cases
• Audit claims and documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Support pharmacy benefit operations and regulatory requirements
• Prepare reports and assist with quality improvement activities
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards
