Summary:

This role is an on-the-job paid training with hands-on learning experience aimed to obtaining a Florida State Pharmacy Technician registration. The role works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and alongside other licensed pharmacy technicians to become proficient in performing pharmacy related duties in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The Pharmacy Technician Extern position requires enrollment and participation in the Florida Board of Pharmacy approved Employer-Based Pharmacy Training Program.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels including automated dispensing cabinets code carts trays and medication charges/credits when prescription data entry in pharmacy system when non-sterile compounded medications including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriateAssists with customer service and patient needs including answering telephones managing work queues and completing medication other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of fills receives delivers stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas. Repackages bulk medications.

Education and Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
