The Pharmacy Technician Lead coordinates the daily activities of pharmacy technicians to ensure safe accurate and efficient medication distribution and pharmacy operations. Oversees workflow training scheduling and performance support while serving as a key resource for process improvement and regulatory compliance.

The Pharmacy Technician Lead
Provides daily direction guidance and technical oversight for pharmacy technicians across assigned areas.
Supports onboarding orientation and ongoing training for pharmacy technicians; validate competencies and maintain documentation.
Assists with creating and maintaining technician work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and workload balance.
Provides input on staff performance improvement discussions and disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
Verifies staff licensure compliance and ensure certifications are current and properly displayed.
Serves as the first point of contact for technical troubleshooting workflow issues and communication with other departments.
Compiles and reports operational metrics audit findings and expense summaries for pharmacy leadership.
Maintains and organizes departmental files records and documentation for audits and inspections.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of pharmacy experience required.
Licensure certification and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time work efficiently and accurately and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
