Position Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the overall operation clinical oversight financial performance and strategic growth of the retail pharmacy. This leadership role ensures safe and compliant pharmacy operations while actively driving business development in traditional retail pharmacy services DMEPOS (Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics Orthotics and Supplies) and specialty pharmacy programs. The Pharmacy Manager is expected to lead staff optimize patient care services increase prescription volume expand payer and provider relationships and identify opportunities to grow revenue through specialty medications clinical services and DMEPOS offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure accurate safe and efficient dispensing of medications.

Maintain compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations HIPAA requirements PBM standards and accreditation requirements.

Ensure compliance with DMEPOS and specialty pharmacy standards including documentation inventory and billing requirements.

Maintain pharmacy licensure DEA registration accreditation standards and policy/procedure updates.

Monitor and improve workflow efficiency medication safety and quality assurance initiatives.

Ensure appropriate inventory management and cost controls for prescription medications specialty products and DMEPOS inventory.

Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow prescription volume and overall pharmacy revenue.

Lead efforts to expand specialty pharmacy services including patient enrollment provider outreach and therapy management programs.

Identify and grow DMEPOS business opportunities through physician referrals community partnerships and patient education.

Build and maintain relationships with physicians clinics hospitals assisted living facilities and healthcare organizations.

Analyze pharmacy financial performance identify revenue opportunities and implement growth strategies.

Collaborate with ownership and leadership on business planning marketing initiatives and expansion opportunities.

Drive patient retention and customer satisfaction initiatives to increase long-term pharmacy loyalty.

Oversee specialty medication workflows including prior authorizations financial assistance patient onboarding adherence monitoring and clinical follow-up.

Coordinate with manufacturers specialty distributors and payer networks to improve access and reimbursement.

Develop specialty pharmacy clinical programs focused on high-touch patient care and outcomes.

Monitor specialty pharmacy KPIs including turnaround time adherence rates refill compliance and revenue performance.

Manage DMEPOS product offerings inventory documentation and billing processes.

Ensure staff competency in DMEPOS product education and patient training.

Develop referral relationships to increase DMEPOS utilization and patient access.

Monitor reimbursement trends and payer requirements related to DMEPOS services.

Foster a culture of accountability professionalism customer service and continuous improvement.

Schedule staff appropriately to ensure operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Lead regular team meetings and communicate operational goals and performance expectations.

Promote clinical services that improve patient outcomes and generate additional revenue streams.

Ensure exceptional customer service and patient satisfaction at all times.

Support adherence initiatives and patient engagement programs.

Qualifications

Required

Active NY State Pharmacist license in good standing.

Minimum of 35 years of retail pharmacy experience.

Knowledge of pharmacy operations third-party billing and regulatory compliance.

Strong understanding of DMEPOS and/or specialty pharmacy operations.

Strong business acumen and financial management skills.

Excellent leadership communication and relationship-building abilities.

Preferred

Experience with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards (ACHC.).

Experience with DMEPOS billing and accreditation requirements.

Existing provider and healthcare network relationships.

Immunization certification and MTM experience.

Experience with pharmacy business development and strategic growth initiatives.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Ability to lift and move pharmacy and DMEPOS inventory as needed.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required.
