The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ranks among the best in the country. Our research programs are at the forefront of the technologies that have changed the world we live in. The ECE Department part of the College of Engineering is a large and diverse academic community and includes global research and teaching efforts through extensions of our Pittsburgh academic programs and research in Silicon Valley Portugal Africa and Thailand.
The Personal Care Assistant shall assist with mobility during the workday for a department head. The tasks include but are not limited to providing hands-on mobility support setting up and adjusting mobility equipment for safe use retrieving and carrying items assisting with personal needs during the workday and escorting the department head to locations across campus. The Personal Care Assistant may also carry materials to meetings and provide physical support during work-related travel. Performs related personal assistance duties as assigned.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on assistance with mobility
- Set up and adjust mobility equipment for safe use
- Assist with obtaining meals and hydration
- Operates standard office equipment and displays computer literacy
- Maintains a high level of integrity and discretion
- Flexible and adaptable to principals changing needs day to day
- Displays good communication and customer service skills delivering a high standard of support and assistance to guests faculty staff and students
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years experience
- Experience providing personal care or mobility assistance (professionally or as a caregiver)
- Physically able to assist and provide physical support safely
- Reliable and punctual with dependable transportation
- Basic understanding of body mechanics and safe lifting/transfer techniques
- Training from an occupational or physical therapist preferred
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

- Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
