JOB SUMMARY:This position is to provide classroom coverage and instruction as assigned when the regular classroom teacher is absent. The permanent substitute must be confident in teaching a wide range of developmental age groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualification is a high school diploma and an AA degree or 48 college credits or a passing score on the Parapro Assessment.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Ability to speak and write effectively and correctly.
Indications of excellent human relations skills.
Possess the ability to relate well with students colleagues parents and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follow lesson plans assignments and instructional materials.
Flexible and willing to adapt to change at a short notice.
Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning.
Ability to teach day-to-day assignments or longer-term assignments.
Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process.
Enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
Maintains regular on-time attendance
Performs other duties as assigned

PAY & HOURS:This position is a half-time position for benefit purposes with a maximum of 33.75 hours a week. Placement on the Caroline County Board of Education Support Services salary scale will be based on education and experience related to this position.
