Percussion Instructor (Marching Band)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Percussionperformance experience
2. Teaching experience
3. Experience working with junior high and/or high school youth
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Band Director/s

JOB GOALS: To provide skills that will engage all levels ofpercussionistsand promote musicianship in order to enhance student learning promote the overall quality of the band and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Iowa City Board of Education
2. Must work to form a positive professional relationship with students teachers parents and audience.
3. Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate and high school students in a band setting..
4. Develop musicians to their fullest potential starting with teaching basic fundamentals and progressing to skills beyond what is considered average.
5. Willing to work cooperatively with other programs.
6. Willing to work in the summer on weekends and at other allowable times in order to maintain a quality program.
7. Willingness to perform additional duties as requested by administration.

COMPENSATION: 6.5% Stipend
