Purpose

TheSurgical Technician(uncertifiedorunlicensed)serves as a member of the surgical teamresponds to patient needsprepares / maintains resources (e.g.equipment instrumentssupplies) &provides safe quality health care services & / or assistance for surgical proceduresin accordance with level of experience educationpolicies / procedures / protocols& standards.

Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression)

Tech/SupportII assistive:Unlicensed oruncertifiedrole (directhealthcare)that supportsthe total peri-operative process;Providesintra-operativepatient care to patientsasdirected bythe Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s);Anticipates surgeons needsin the use ofmedical suppliesinstrumentation & equipmentavailability &readiness;Maintainsa safe& cleanoperating room suite; Assists&/ orensuresdocumentation& detailed records are kept;Performs essential duties& techniquesappropriate to role/function/ procedure;Participates in quality improvement processes;May serve as a resource (lead) role model &/or mentor.

Minimum Qualifications

HighSchool diploma or GED;At least one (1)year experience in a health care or military medical setting;Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement.

AdditionalQualifications(nice to have)

Current certification as a Surgical Technician from an accredited program
