Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriter

Job Summary

Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Lines Production Binding Underwriter to join a growing team. This role is focused on new business production and offers an exciting opportunity to build and grow a book of business from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess strong marketing capabilities proven sales ability and a drive to succeed in a competitive environment.

Compensation Package

• Base Salary: $80000 $105000 (potential to reach $125000 for candidates with a significant book of business and strong relationships)
• Bonus Structure: Commission eligibility begins once the producer generates 2x their base salary in revenue and covers support staff costs.
• Equity Participation: Opportunity for future equity participation in a privately held company.

Responsibilities

• Build maintain and grow a book of business.
• Manage agency relationships and serve as the lead client contact.
• Develop and execute a marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
• Rate quote and bind each risk to determine acceptability coverage and pricing for large or complex renewals and new business.
• Develop and submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and management.
• Monitor key metrics to formulate corrective actions impacting new business hit rates renewal retention premium growth and loss ratios.
• Lead train and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters or Brokers.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in commercial lines underwriting or brokerage with excess & surplus experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
• Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Interest in continued education and professional development.
• Insurance license CPCU CIC or comparable designations preferred.
