Overview

Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll processing for a growing organization. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is hands-on organized and experienced with multi-state payroll environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state employee population
• Review payroll data for accuracy including hours worked bonuses commissions and deductions
• Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll regulations
• Maintain payroll records and assist with audits and reporting requirements
• Support tax filings garnishments benefits deductions and direct deposit processing
• Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end close activities
• Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
• Assist with year-end processing including W-2s and related reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance HR or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2 years of payroll processing experience
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP UKG Workday Paylocity or similar
• Strong Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets
• High attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality

Preferred Experience

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus
• Experience in high-volume or fast-paced environments
• Exposure to HRIS systems and benefits administration
• Experience in industries such as professional services nonprofit or government contracting
