Job Summary
SUMMARY
The payroll specialist is responsible for collecting timekeeping information processing Company payrolls accurately verifying and applying applicable deductions to employee pay and issuing pay and pay-related information to employees.

PAY
- $20 - $26 per hour DOE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards
- Auditing new hires into the payroll system
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked; bonuses and commissions
- Compiles funds to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement
- Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions insurance coverage etc.
- Updates data concerning compensation increases promotions and/or transfer of employees between departments
- Computes wages and deductions reviews for accuracy and posts to payroll records
- Prepares data for payroll files to be reviewed before processing
- Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
- Enters all employee benefit deductions garnishments AR payments and any other deductions as directed/approved by the employee in accordance with state and federal laws
- Maintains professional appearance and neat work area.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Proficient at MS Office
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or
- Preferred- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions correspondence and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions of payroll program and procedure documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as wage and hours laws for local state and federal agencies
- Ability to speak and listen effectively employees of organization. Clear and concise communication is vital in this position
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions and percentages
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Standing: Must be able to stand at intervals
- Sitting: Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Walking: Various tasks will require walking on carpeted floor up and down stairs and walking on concrete/asphalt surfaces
- Changing Positions: Flexibility is allowed in making frequent position changes (standing sitting or walking) as necessary to physically perform routine tasks
- Carrying/Lifting: These objects may come in various shapes and sizes. May need to regularly lift up to 10 pounds. If the object is to bulky or heavy the employee must seek assistance
- Push/Pulling: May occasionally have to push a chair or pull drawers open
- Bending/Twisting: Certain tasks will require the person to bend and/or twist from either; waist knees neck back or arms (i.e. bending to get item out of drawer or cupboards etc.)
- Reaching/Handling: All tasks performed by this person will require the use of hands and arms (i.e. computer operation accessing items from cupboards/drawers writing answering phones grasping keys and/or articles etc.)

- Office areas are heated and air conditioned.
- The work environment is indoors.
- Depending on the Facility all administrative offices are upstairs.
