The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Administrative Services is recruitingfor a Payroll Services Supervisor located in Juneau Alaska!
What you will be doing:
Step into a key leadership role within the Department of Fish & Games (DFG) Human Resources (HR) team where your payroll expertise directly supports the people who protect Alaskas fish wildlife and natural resources. As a central member of our HR operation youll partner closely with the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) and the Department of Administration to guide policy strengthen processes and ensure payroll excellence across the department.
Under general supervision of DFGs HRBP you will lead and mentor a team of payroll technicians fostering a supportive environment. Youll serve as DFGs primary payroll certifier and subject matter expertoverseeing payroll and leave processing driving section initiatives and delivering training that empowers staff at every level.
Youll join a collaborative HR team that values strong partnerships problem solving and service to our uniquely diverse workforce. Your work will help keep DFG running smoothly and ensure our employees are supported informed and paid accurately.

Must be able to obtain and sustain employment in a Confidential Bargaining Unit position for the State of Alaska and eligible to work with confidential information and confidential systems. - Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical systematic sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on ones knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example technical sensitive controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.
- Personnel and Human Resources: Knowledge of hiring classification benefits labor relations negotiation and Federal state and local employment regulations.
- Supervision: Plans distributes and monitors work assignments; sets task priorities; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected utilized and developed and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in payroll services human resource management business administration supporting management in running an organization/enterprise or supporting professionals working in human resources (such as recruitment payroll classification and compensation employee and labor-management relations employer provided benefit programs employment law compliance or employee training).
