Overview

Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations for a growing organization. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate compliant and timely payroll processing across a multi-state workforce while driving process improvements and supporting broader HR/Finance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle payroll processing on a bi-weekly/semi-monthly basis for multi-state employees
• Ensure compliance with federal state and local payroll regulations including tax filings and reporting
• Lead payroll audits reconciliations and year-end activities (W-2s 1099s etc.)
• Oversee payroll systems administration maintenance and enhancements
• Partner with HR and Finance to ensure seamless integration of payroll data (benefits bonuses commissions etc.)
• Manage and mentor payroll staff (if applicable) providing training and development
• Identify opportunities for automation efficiency improvements and process standardization
• Support external audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance HR or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5 years of payroll experience including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience with payroll systems (e.g. ADP Workday UKG Paylocity or similar)
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• High level of accuracy attention to detail and confidentiality

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting large or rapidly growing employee populations
• Exposure to benefits administration and HRIS integration
• Experience in industries such as professional services government contracting or multi-entity environments
