Payroll Accountant

Our client a well-established Sacramento based organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountantto join their team. This role is ideal for a detail oriented payroll professional with strong accounting skills and a commitment to accuracy compliance and timely processing. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for full cycle payroll processing and supporting key accounting functions. This contract to hire position offers a primarily remote schedule with hybrid work (2 days onsite) after training. Key Responsibilities

• Process full cycle semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule in ADP Workforce Now.
• Reconcile benefit invoices to payroll records manage benefit carriers to resolve discrepancies and payment processing.
• Support benefit open enrollment update payroll deductions benefit audits and compliance related compliance.
• Manage payroll taxes and ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations
• Perform W 4 and payroll reconciliation
• Prepare and post payroll related journal entries
• Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to resolve payroll discrepancies
• Assist with annual Workers Compensation audit.
• Manage employees management vendors and external partners with payroll and benefits administration.
• Support audits and reporting as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years accounting experience with payroll and benefits in ADP Workforce Now.
• Bachelors or Associates Degree strongly desired.
• Strong understanding of Federal and CA State payroll tax regulations and reporting.
• Experience with payroll reconciliations general ledger and journal entries in QuickBooks.
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills
