Paver Screed Operator

Duties and/or Responsibilities:
- Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. (Federal state local and company policies).
- Perform daily equipment walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine.
- Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.
- Heat screed at beginning of shift.
- Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.
- Clean screed at end of shift.
- Communicate effectively (verbal listening written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality equipment operation/repair etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Ensure OSHA EPA DNR safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Job requires steady to intermittent and repetitive physical activity including: standing stooping kneeling climbing walking on uneven ground lifting carrying pushing shoveling and raking.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year or more experience operating screed equipment
-Has knowledge of the aspects of paving operations
-A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred-Valid drivers license
-Must be able to work day shifts and night shifts. Shifts may vary according to project demands-Must be able to work in all weather conditions
-Must be willing to travel if job requires
-Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
