Patient Support Authorization Specialist
Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the Griffin Faculty Physicians (GFP) with the following processes:
- Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls
- Patient demographics verification updates and enters into electronic medical record
- Creates new patient records as needed
- Schedules patient appointments according to established office protocols and triage guidelines
- Communicate with physician office staff on patient concerns requests and scheduling changes
- Scheduling and coordinating provider appointments
- Referral Reconciliation
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
- Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicator expectations
This individual will work with internal and external customers including providers clinical staff and patients to accomplish the Griffin Hospital (GH) and GFP objectives. This position participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives as well as Health System Incentives.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree preferred with an emphasis on healthcare
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Must be detail oriented and well organized
- Requires ability to multitask in a high volume very technical and diverse environment
- Position requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication & listening skills required
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to interact with all levels of staff patients and diverse population required
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Ability to type 30 wpm preferred
- Previous computer experience required
- Above average written communication skills are required
- Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required
- At least 2 years of customer service experience desired preferably in a healthcare setting or with medical claims insurance
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology preferred
