Job Summary
The PSC works closely with Access Navigators Clinic Navigators/staff and Service Line Coordinators to facilitate efficient patient flow remove barriers to care and support timely progression from referral to treatment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining data integrity optimizing scheduling workflows and ensuring that patients are appropriately prepared for upcoming appointments and services.
Through strong organizational skills attention to detail and a commitment to excellent customer service the PSC helps reduce delays improve access to care and enhance the overall patient experience.
The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) serves as a vital liaison between cancer patients and the healthcare system ensuring seamless access to care and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey. The PSC manages essential administrative functions that promote efficient and compassionate patient flow while actively working to eliminate barriers to care. The PSC works closely with oncology navigation staff as a dedicated team player fostering a supportive environment that alleviates fear and illuminates the path forward for each patient.
The PSC utilizes exceptional customer service to ensure every individual receives the highest level of service compassion and advocacy throughout their cancer care journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manages referral intake ensuring timely complete and accurate entry
- Schedules appointments based on clinical pathways and service line guidelines
- Verifies patient demographics insurance and registration information
- Serves as a primary administrative contact providing clear communication and visit preparation instructions
- Collaborates with Access Navigators Clinic Navigators/teams and Service Line Coordinators to support patient flow
- Follows up on referrals missing documentation and scheduling barriers
- Utilizes EMR tools to manage work queues and maintain data integrity
- Supports access standards to reduce delays and ensure a seamless patient-centered experience

Education: Associates degree required. Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Computer and word processing knowledge and experience required. Keyboarding skills are essential. Medical terminology preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication customer service and teamwork skills required. Above average organizational skills ability to multi-task and attention to detail in work. Strong skill in written and verbal communication. Must be proficient in computer data entry/keyboarding. Maintains composure under pressure. Diffuses tension through effective communication. Ability to use electronic medical records.
Compensation Range:
$17.39 - $24.35Employee pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications credentials education and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
