Job Summary
Position SummaryThe Patient Care Companion functions under the direction of the registered Nurse responsible for the Patients care and following the Patients individualized needs. Nursing care is provided to the Patient by the nursing staff. ResponsibilitiesCommunicate any change of assignment to the nursing patient observation as assignedDocuments Patients behavior using the appropriate form/toolObtains appropriate information at the start of the shift regarding care from a Registered NursePatient conversation guidelines should be adhered toMonitors the Patients safety and maintains a safe environment as directed by the registered Nurse; for ex: maintains safety position in the room when appropriate. (i.e. back to the door) and always keeps patients in patient for escalating the Patient to the bathroom and tests as proficiency with the use of bed the Patients clothing and belongings in the Patients closet away from the the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed and reports the Patients status and needs to the on duty until relieved by oncoming coverage or the Nurse discontinues Care Companion may be assigned to watch patients at risk for :Years of Experience: Entry LevelLanguage Skills: Proficient in English both verbally and writtenRequirements:Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all individual roles/responsibilities in the event of a hospital code. (e.g. Code Green Code Red)Perform proper hand washing per CDC the privacy and security of patient information. The employee complies will policies and procedures relating to the hospitals privacy and security potential compliance issues to a manager supervisor director or Chain of Command to communicate any identified patient or staff safety patient status to oncoming staff in a respectful professional respect for values preferences and expressed needs of the Patient and and collaborate effectively with patients and families to promote Patient health and with sensitivity in delivering care/services to diverse populations as to work in proper uniform per departmental standards and hospital a professional courteous attitude toward the Patient coworkers and all departments daily.
