Overview:

Hours: 7PM-7AM - Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week) with rotating weekends

Department Overview: The rehabilitation nursing unit is a 16-bed medical/surgical unit that specializes in diagnoses include but are not limited to: CVA spinal cord injury amputations major multiple trauma brain injury bilateral joint replacement neurological disorders (i.e. multiple sclerosis muscular dystrophy Guillain-Barre Syndrome and Parkinsons disease) and cardiac/pulmonary disorders including patients following heart transplants Left Ventricular Assist Devices and patients with pulmonary hypertension on special medications no longer requiring titration. This unit does not have telemetry monitoring or ventilators.

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient care supports independent and dependent activities of daily living vital signs mobility and ambulation phlebotomy point of care testing EKG testing peripheral IV removal specimen collection and foley catheter insertion and removal and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients physical mental and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Requirements:

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)andone of the following is required:

• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program or

• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or

• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or

• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) or

• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School or

• Emergency Services to include EMR EMS EMT AEMT and Paramedic or

• Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program or

• Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant.

Certifications/Licensure:

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

• One year of health care experience (Preferred).

We provide market-competitive compensation packages inclusive of base pay incentives and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials standby/on-call pay overtime shift premiums extra-shift incentives or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications experience location market conditions and business needs.
