Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield Massachusetts. Our Davis Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Baystate Childrens Hospital is the regions only Level III NICU.

• We have a team of neonatologists neonatal nurse practitioners residents pediatric subspecialists respiratory therapists and neonatal nutritionists here to care for our littlest patients 24 hours a day.
• Continuing Care Nursery part of NICU- infants go there to be monitored after they graduate NICU.

The Patient Care Technician role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients lives while gaining hands-on clinical experience and building a strong foundation for career growth in healthcare while working alongside a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality compassionate patient care.

The Patient Care Technician Will:

• Provided safe age-appropriate patient care assisting with activities of daily living mobility elimination and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs weights intake/output and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments procedures dressing changes specimen collection point-of-care testing and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses physicians and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication accurate documentation and patient-centered care.

• Schedule: Three twelve hour shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills

• High School diploma or GED
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association
