Job Summary

The main functions of this position include the responsibility and accountability for scheduling specialist appointments completing medical history requests and administrative services for CDPA in an outpatient medical oncology specialist appointments and assist patients with insurance issues as needed. Communicate both verbally and in written form to all patients regarding specialist appointments in a manner that both instructs patients and alleviates their concerns. Obtain prior authorization for specialist referrals and gather necessary records for specialist appointments. Coordinate and schedule all chemotherapy treatment appointments as well as consult appointments and all follow-up appointments Manage intensive referrals and ancillary appointments. Maintain multiple phone lines. Direct all medically related questions to the appropriate medical staff (oncology nursing medical assistants and medical oncologists)High school diploma or equivalent ability to type required as well as the ability to operate business office equipment including copy machines and fax machines proficiency in PC applications including Windows and word processing required. Demonstrated organizational interpersonal oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently familiarity with medic terminology requiredKnowledge of CDH clinical systems for obtaining necessary medical records preferredOne (1) to three (3) years of experience in an outpatient medical oncology practice preferredDemonstrated familiarity with medical oncology terminology as well as understanding the complicated scheduling for chemotherapy treatments preferredMedical Assistant certification preferred
