Orthopedic injuries

Overview
Under the direction of an RN or LPN assists with individualized patient care to help each patient achieve their highest level of wellness.

Advancement through career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond
Patient Care Associate (PCA) Responsibilities:
Obtain and document vital signs in the electronic medical record
Assist with meals bathing toileting ambulation mobility and transport
Provide clerical support as needed
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Responsibilities:
All PCA duties
Phlebotomy / blood cultures
Enteral feeding
Wound care
IV / Foley removal
Trach care and suctioning
Training
Our PCA training program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offering hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment
No experience Mercy provides a 175-hour required training program meeting DHSS requirements (completed within 90 days of hire)
BLS required within 1 month of hire
PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire
Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D
CNA / CPTC OR enrolled in a high school healthcare career program
Current Mercy co-worker also eligible
