Responsibilities:
Responds to calls from physician offices clinics patients and/or other ambulatory services in a courteous and tactful manner.
Registers hospital-wide services such as laboratory radiology cardiology clinic physical therapy and behavioral health into the online registration system to provide optimal access to these services.
Enters demographic and financial data based on the criteria established by the department to ensure complete and accurate information.
Consistently reviews all scheduled Same Day Surgery procedures to ensure proper authorization provider availability and equipment is in place with the OR Scheduler and/or Manager.
Keeps informed of changes as they relate to scheduling registration and surgical implants process requirements.
Keeps abreast of and informs physicians (or designee) and patients of necessary insurance requirements and charges. Determines if co-payment is due for the type of service the patient is requesting.
Works closely with the service line teams and communicates effectively any changes such as cancellations and/or rescheduling of visits.
Cross trains in registration and admitting in all areas to assist with coverage when and if necessary.
Customer Service: respect flexibility knowledge confidence professionalism pleasant attitude patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely professional caring and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety environmental and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and creates necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Centers Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Centers Mission Vision and Values Statements.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
Position Qualifications:
Two to three years scheduling experience.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Proficiency in insurance verification and collection.
Ability to plan and utilize time management skills.
Computer literate.
Good organizational skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks reads and writes English to the extent required by the position
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Salary Range Commensurate with Experience within posted range: $19 to $22 per hour
