Job Summary
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Part-time Pathologists Assistant to join its team.
As an active member of the surgical pathology team the Pathologists Assistant will function as an active member of the anatomic pathology team and assist pathologists as necessary. Performs high complexity testing and is responsible for performing duties associated with the gross examination and prosection of tissue for histological examination for both surgical and autopsy pathology.
Acts as a key contact person for pathologists grossing and histology staff to identify problem areas and recommend changes to workflow. Assists with intraoperative consultations including fresh specimen and triage research tissue collection. Participates in the instruction of residents fellows and/or students.

Hourly range
The hourly rate range for this position is $71.10 - $86.77. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal state and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree Specialized/technical training PathologyMinimum Certifications: PA certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology or must obtain certificate within 90 days of hire.
Addtional Education Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Skills: Completion of an accredited pathology assistant training program or must graduate within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Education: Masters degree Biology Or Masters degree Medical Technology Or Masters degree in related field(s)
Preferred Experience: 3 years
Preferred Skills: Three years of proven documented experience in anatomical/surgical pathology.
