Employment Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift: Day Shift (Monday Friday 8:00 AM 4:00 PM)
We are seeking a skilled Pathologists Assistant to support diagnostic pathology services within a healthcare laboratory setting. This role is responsible for assisting with gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens preparing samples for testing and ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
The ideal candidate will work closely with pathologists laboratory staff and healthcare teams to ensure high-quality and timely pathology results.
- Assist with gross examination and dissection of surgical tissue specimens
- Prepare and submit specimens for histological and laboratory testing
- Accurately document specimen details and maintain tracking systems
- Summarize relevant patient medical histories for pathology review
- Work closely with pathologists and supervising physicians
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel and hospital departments
- Maintain clear and professional communication across clinical teams
- Adhere to departmental protocols quality standards and safety procedures
- Ensure accurate documentation and proper handling of all specimens
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Masters Degree in Health Science Pathology or related field required
- ASCP Certification required
- Minimum 1 year of technical experience in a healthcare setting required
- 2 years of overall experience preferred
- Expertise in surgical tissue grossing and dissection
- Knowledge of laboratory specimen handling and processing
- Strong clinical documentation and data accuracy skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform intermittent hand manipulation
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Detail-oriented with strong technical pathology skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Collaborative and able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
