Part-Time Workforce Nursing Instructor

Onondaga Community College located in Syracuse NY is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. The Nursing Department invites applications to teach in OCCs NursingWorkforce programs including Certified Nurses Aide and Home Health Aide.

Major responsibilities include teaching clinical instruction and evaluation lab instruction and evaluation; student mentoring and ensuring strengthening of knowledge skills and competencies

The successful candidate will:

• Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning.
• Be innovative in the presentation ofhands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
• Assess learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
• Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
• Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
• Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Workforce position in program (CNA or HHA):
  • Current NYS RN registration and CPR certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual in English and and another language will be considered.

Rate of pay is $45.00/ position is not eligible for position will beginJune 1 2026.

  • Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing or
  • Oneyearof experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility or

  • Completion of the State approved professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners or
  • Documentation is attached that verifies oneyearof experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
